Outreach Case Worker

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

Experienced Outreach Worker with knowledge of Harm Reduction and Infectious Disease for street outreach to homeless individuals in downtown/UNM area. Dispensing supplies & information, assessing needs & refering individuals to appropriate agencies/services. 30 hours of time spent doing street outreach work. Work independently with minimal supervision, knowledge of mental illnesses/substance abuse; Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings and early mornings as needed or required.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS1.Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.2.Ability to stand, walk and be on feet for 5+ hours per day.3.Ability and willingness to work outdoors in all types of weather. 4.Ability to carry a backpack while walking.

Other Information/Requirements: 

BA or BS in Human Service related field preferred with one year experience directly relevant experience working with homeless population OR 2 years related experience (with SDMI, homeless and/or other similar populations). Knowledge of Harm Reduction Model and infectious disease. Bilingual is a plus. Must be able to work outside, walking & carrying supplies to individuals on the street in all weather conditions
