Main Areas of Responsibility: 

New Mexico Legal Aid is seeking two Domestic Violence Staff Attorneys for its Albuquerque office. The DV Staff Attorneys will represent victims of domestic violence throughout the Albuquerque metro and surrounding areas.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Staff Attorneys are required to be active in local bar and community activities. The work will include participating in community education and outreach to eligible clients, and recruitment of and collaboration with pro-bono attorneys. The DV Attorneys will assist clients with Orders of Protection and other related cases affecting the personal safety and economic security of victims. The attorney also will be a member of NMLA’s statewide family law practice group.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Minimum 5 years’ experience as a licensed attorney preferred. Must be able to work in a high-intensity environment with victims of trauma; use computer technology, remote communications systems, shared online workspaces & web meeting/videoconferencing; effectively collaborate/co-counsel with staff in multiple offices; possess excellent written/oral communication skills & the ability to multitask, manage a caseload & build collaborative relationships within the staff & community. Spanish proficiency a plus.
