New Mexico Project Director

Main Areas of Responsibility: 

With administrative and programmatic support from FairVote's national staff in Maryland and regional staff in California, the FairVote New Mexico project director will launch the FairVote New Mexico project early 2017. The position will be based out of either Albuquerque or Santa Fe. We expect to fill this position with a highly capable, experienced community organizer.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

-Manage day-to-day operations and overall campaign plan(s), including planning, implementation, and effective communication and coordination.
-Work closely with current and prospective New Mexico reform allies, starting in Santa Fe and Albuquerque
-Support effective implementation and use of ranked choice voting in 2018 in city elections in Santa Fe
-Assess opportunities to expand use of ranked choice voting in other New Mexico cities, such as Albuquerque

Other Information/Requirements: 

Qualifications:
-2-5 years of experience in policy and/or electoral campaigns. Demonstrated ability to engage the grassroots, speak and write about policy issues, and implement a campaign plan;
-Experience in professional positions that ideally include a combination of project leadership, coalition building, and community organizing;
-Bachelor's degree and preferably a graduate degree in law, nonprofit management, or a related field;
-Flexible, self-starter and multi-tasker;
-Spanish proficiency a plus
