National Teaching Fellowship

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The National Teaching Fellowship is a two year AmeriCorps program for individuals who are eager to participate in education reform. Members of the National Teaching Fellowship teach in the expanded day, grow in a professional role, and serve as community builders dedicated to closing the opportunity and achievement gaps.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

 Knowledge of and commitment to the Citizen Schools’ mission
 Academic skills – proficiency in middle school math and English
 Coaching skills and ability to provide and receive constructive feedback
 Commitment to teamwork and collaboration with diverse groups of people
 Desire to work with middle schools students and their families in low income communities

Other Information/Requirements: 

 Ability to build relationships and influence students, colleagues, and community members
 Outstanding communication skills
 Strong detail orientation, time management, and organization skills
 Demonstrated leadership ability
 Bachelor's Degree required
 Embodiment of Citizen School values: Pride, Joy, Respect, Courage, Teamwork, Perseverance, and Vision

All National Teaching Fellow positions begin in July 2013.
