Museum Educator- STEAM

Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The Museum Educator-STEAM designs and implements STEAM-based education programs for PreK - 6th grade students. The Museum Educator-STEAM also presents educational and engaging programs in the Museum’s portable Planetarium, both at the Museum and in Northern NM. The Educator will have primary duties in outreach programs and public programs, will support workshops and camps, and will be responsible for some administrative tasks related to programming.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Maintains Planetarium both physically and technologically, adding updates/upgrades as needed.
Maintains the procedural manual on Planetarium maintenance and programs.
Remain current with education standards, child development practices, and children’s museum best practices for STEAM-related programs.
Collect and maintain data and evaluations for grant requirements.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience developing and teaching programs in science, engineering or math subjects to PreK-6th grade students
Ability to facilitate effectively and interact playfully with children, adults, and large groups in a fast-paced environment.
Flexible and willing to adapt as needed.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Highly proficient with technology in a PC environment.
Reliable transportation, insurance, and a valid driver’s license.
