Museum Educator (part time)

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History is seeking a part time Museum Educator. This person will work with the Education Department to produce education programs for schools, scouts and campers; including program development, management, and facilitation.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

The Museum Educator will assist and support the instruction and development of educational programs for the Museum’s camps, school programs, “Science a la Carte” program, special events, and scout programs for students ages preK-12. This person will also attend community outreach events in order to promote the educational programs of the Museum. The Museum Educator will seek opportunities to expand Boy Scout and Girl Scout programming at the Museum, especially in coordination with existing scout badges.

Other Information/Requirements: 

The Museum Educator will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree. A background in working with camps, daycares, early elementary education, and middle and high school students is a plus. Excellent classroom management skills are ideal. Must be exceptionally well organized and able to multi-task and work in a fast paced museum environment with multiple projects. The candidate should be prepared to have frequent weekend hours for outreach and scout programming.
