Media Fellow

Job Description
Type of Job: 
Internship
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

• Upholding high-quality media standards, participate in evaluation of the fellowship.
• Production assistance on weekly radio program: background research (analysis and synthesizing information), conducting interviews, engineering, writing scripts, audio editing, music selection.
• Clear and constant communication on projects, deadlines, and ongoing activities.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

• Active participation in a training program with journalists and media activists
• Weekly writing/blogging assignments on current events or other topics
• Technical assistance on video productions
• Regular reflections on work, trainings, and other program activities
• Participation in media and racial justice campaigns
• Work on Digital/Social Media campaigns
• Implementing best practices of Positive Youth Development when assisting middle/high school youth in media creation

Other Information/Requirements: 

• Recent college graduate or current student with a background in media making, communications or journalism
• New Mexican or Currently living in NM
• Excellent communication, organization and time management skills
• Sincere belief GJ’s mission and core values
• Reliable, self-driven, and professional

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in audio and video editing
• Writing experience
• Commitment to social justice, equity, and media
• Experience working with youth
• Active on social media
