Litigation Staff Attorney for Non-Profit Legal Services

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

SCLO seeks a litigation staff attorney beginning mid-April 2014. SCLO provides civil legal services to clients who are 60 years of age.
The attorney will be responsible for providing brief services and full representation to seniors as well as systemic advocacy work. The attorney will also conduct community, legal education sessions and engage in outreach activities in all the counties served by SCLO.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

SCLO is looking for a highly motivated individual who is passionate about social justice and strongly committed to serving seniors in our community. The ideal candidate should have a demonstrated interest in public interest and poverty law, and be patient with and sensitive to seniors. Salary is DOE. Benefit package includes health insurance, dental insurance, and generous vacation and sick leave.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Graduate of accredited law school, licensed New Mexico Bar member or a licensed member of another state bar willing to waive into the New Mexico State Bar. Minimum three years litigation experience. Candidates also must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, manage a significant caseload, and build collaborative relationships within SCLO's staff, our partner legal services agencies and the community. Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
