Legislative Campaign Associate

Main Areas of Responsibility: 

Provide support for Animal Protection Voter's (APV) state, federal, and local legislative policies and programs through legislative and bill tracking, internal reporting, research, data collection and analysis, grassroots correspondence, community organizing and outreach, making testimony, candidate research, development of informational and lobbying materials, and utilization of volunteers and citizen advocates.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Respond to requests/questions from public; monitor dedicated email account; recruit, train and organize volunteers; phone banking; creating e-blasts; drafting press releases, note-taking/transcription; mailing; filing; meeting preparation; event planning; social media posting; website updates; some fundraising.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Associates or Bachelors Degree required; degree or previous experience in political science, law, government policy, or public affairs preferred; sound verbal and written communication skills; willingness to work non-traditional hours (e.g., evenings, weekends, extended hours); attention to detail, highly organized, team-oriented; computer literate (MS, social media); familiarity with New Mexico.
