Intake Attorney and Non-Attorney Intake Specialist

Main Areas of Responsibility: 

We are seeking Intake Attorneys and non-attorney Intake Specialists to interview client applicants, provide information and advice, and to provide other forms of brief assistance and referrals to telephone and online intake applicants. These positions potentially can be based in NMLA offices throughout New Mexico, but candidates able to be based in Albuquerque will be preferred.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

The majority of client applicants will be seeking help with family law cases, landlord/tenant disputes, foreclosures, problems with public benefits programs, employment or wage theft problems, low-income taxpayer disputes and consumer law problems. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about justice and strongly committed to helping NMLA better serve our client community, including effective use of web-based systems and other technologies to deliver legal assistance.

Other Information/Requirements: 

At least three years‘ prior experience is preferred. Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and a significant caseload. Occasional travel may be required. Proficiency in Spanish or tribal languages spoken in New Mexico is a plus. Attorney candidates also must be licensed in New Mexico or eligible for admission by examination or licensed in another state and eligible for reciprocity admission or for New Mexico legal aid providers limited licensing.
