Main Areas of Responsibility: 

Develops curricula and implements programs with a focus on STEM and college readiness in daily classes for a total of 60-72 high school students grades 9-12 at Socorro High School (SHS) in Socorro, NM (15-18 students per class). Teaches students in a classroom setting and on field trips. Coordinates with SHS and feeder schools to recruit new student participants and implement special events and support services. Recruits and trains tutors and summer program teachers.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

During six-week summer program the position is based at New Mexico Tech in Socorro. Oversees academic and financial aid/scholarship advisement and counseling services for program participants. Coordinates retention activities including student mentor programs, tutor services, counseling, and study skills workshops.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Minimum Requirements:
-Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, STEM discipline, or related field.
-Two years experience working with low-income, first-generation minority students; students from diverse backgrounds
-Valid NM State Teaching license with endorsement in STEM in secondary education OR an Internship License to begin teaching in NM while completing the requirements for Alternative Licensure.
