Housing Stability Advocate

Job Description
Type of Job: 
Full-Time
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

Support and advocate for Housing Placement including housing referrals, housing search, housing application process, and other move-in activities for Barrett House Shelter residents.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Coordinate with Housing Providers and landlords
- Create a Housing Sustainability Plan
- Monitor resident progress
- Provide referrals to community resources
- Maintain case notes and records
- Coordinate discharge process
- Adhere to confidentiality policy
- Provide crisis intervention if needed
- Serve as on call shelter back up

Other Information/Requirements: 

Excellent computer and oral communication skills
Ability to relate to homeless women and children
First Aid and CPR certifications
Valid Driver’s License
Knowledge of community resources
Some evenings and weekends required
Previous case management experience
Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work or related studies or minimum of 2 years of case management
