Graphic Design Assistant (UNM Work Study)

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

A work study award from University of New Mexico is required for this position. This position’s primary function is to provide graphic design.

Essential Functions:
• Provide layout and design options to the communications and marketing director
• Implement designs using Adobe Creative Suite
• Create graphic design pieces
• Assist Communications Director with projects as needed
• Develop content for communications and marketing as assigned

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Minimum Qualifications:
• Experience creating graphic design pieces with Adobe Creative Suite
• Interest in social justice and/or non-profits
• Comfortable working with MLP’s clients and constituents, including youth, people of color, immigrant, and LGBTQ communities
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work independently
• Applicants must have a vehicle and valid driver’s license
• Work-study award

Other Information/Requirements: 

Preferred Qualifications:
• Some experience or coursework in communications, journalism, and/or marketing a plus
• Experience with website content development (Drupal)
• Understanding of social justice frameworks
• Interest in deconstructing media
• Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus, but not required
