Grant Writer Internship

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

We are searching for a grant writer who is skilled at seeking out funding opportunities, researching funding opportunities, and drafting grant proposals/applications.
This is an unpaid part-time position, and we request that you stay with the project for several months. We will train you in our organizational structure and an office space will be provided.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

The grant writer researches, prioritizes, and applies for grants from a wide variety of governmental, private, and public foundations and institutions.
• Develop a deep understanding of the mission, vision, values and goals of The National Hispanic Cultural Center Foundation
• Compile an electronic folder of proposals, submitted and upcoming grants, and write-ups to facilitate future grant-writing
• Research potential grant opportunities for the Foundation
• Grant writing experience

Other Information/Requirements: 

• A passion for education, the arts and Hispanic culture
• Ability to work independently and take initiative
• Excellent communication skills
• Non-profit experience (recommended)
The unpaid internship will ideally begin in January and run through May, though start and end dates have some flexibility. We expect a commitment of 7-10 hours per week, though the intern will also have the flexibility to design his or her own schedule.
