Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The primary role of the Grant Writer is to research, develop, write, and submit proposals, letters, reports and other materials necessary to secure grant support from private foundation and government funding sources. Primary responsibilities include prospect research, preparation of original proposals and reports and donor stewardship. The Grant Writer must work cross-departmentally to increase contributed support and advance institutional priorities.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

-Investigate/identify prospective funding sources through colleagues, directories, periodicals, & internet research.
-Research and initiate relationships with new prospective funders.
-Match prospect funding with institutional priorities.
-Draft compelling grant proposal narratives for general operating and restricted project grants.
-Work with the appropriate department to craft budget lines and project descriptions.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Position Requirements:
- College degree from an accredited university.
- 3 years successful grant writing experience.
- Demonstrated organization skills.
- Advanced writing skills.
- Strong communicator.
- Strong research skills.
Reports to: Director of Development
Basic Work Week: 40 hours per week, M-F. Permanent hourly position.
