Main Areas of Responsibility: 

To bring about systemic change for animals in New Mexico by supporting the passage of legislation at the state, local, and federal level, with an emphasis on grassroots advocacy and outreach, legislator accountability, election work, and events.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Become familiar with issues and priorities, grassroots outreach and organizing, volunteer coordination, organize Citizen Lobby Day during legislative session, respond to public inquiries on issues, monitor legislation, develop public communications with marketing team, advance political engagement in the community, assist with finance reporting, fundraising.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Associates or bachelor’s degree required. Previous employment experience or academic focus in political science, law, government policy, or public affairs preferred. Demonstrated interest for the welfare and protection of animals in New Mexico preferred. Familiarity with New Mexico preferred; Spanish or Indigenous language abilities a plus.
