Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The Arc of New Mexico is looking for a full-time General Advocate. The primary function of this position is to work closely with Arc staff, and staff from other advocacy agencies, to address client needs, provide information, and advocacy to individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and family members living in Albuquerque, New Mexico (and the surrounding areas).

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Some job functions include:
• Provide information on government programs and services, including, but not limited to DDPC, DDSD, Medicaid, Medicare, ABLE, and more.
• Connect families with community resources,
• Act as an informational resource for self-advocates, families, educators, medical professionals, service providers and community members.
• Answer questions on a range of disability-related issues.

Other Information/Requirements: 

AA degree and/or equivalent experience in Human Services field req’d; minimum of 1 year of experience in a support or advocate position for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. BA preferred. Must pass federal bkgrd check. • Travel throughout Albuquerque, and the surrounding areas, depending on client needs. $14.42-$16.82/hr, DOE (+$1k year if bilingual Spanish/English) plus benefits. ADA/EOE.
