Full-time AmeriCorps Member Working for Food Justice in Santa Fe County

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The Food Cadre is a program of the Santa Fe non-profit Earth Care. The Food Cadre is an 11-month leadership development program that provides full-time AmeriCorps positions and training for the next generation of food advocates, urban farmers, educators, and leaders. We are seeking dedicated, service-minded Food Cadre Members to begin their 11-month service in non-profits, schools, and local government.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Members placed in schools will tend school gardens, teach kids about food, nutrition, hunger and sustainability, help promote healthy foods for school lunchrooms, and organize service-learning projects in K-12 classrooms. Members placed with community organizations will develop community and home gardens, support farmer’s market and hunger relief programs, food policy. In addition to exciting service placements, the program offers professional development and team service opportunities.

Other Information/Requirements: 

These are full-time AmeriCorps positions from September 4, 2012 – July 31, 2013. To participate in the program, individuals must be between the ages of 18-35, have at least a high school diploma or GED, be a legal resident of the U.S., and be committed to making a difference.
