Family/School Liaison (Special Education)

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The Family/School Liaison support families by providing pertinent information to guide and educate families in assessing choices and making decisions regarding their child with special education needs. Family/School Liaisons participate in documenting and evaluating the quantity and quality of programming delivered and represent Parents Reaching Out in a professional manner.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

The Family/School Liaison interacts with parents and school personnel to support families via phone, email and in person with a high degree of integrity, ethics, knowledge and sensitivity. Liaisons provide trainings to families and professionals, supports development and updating of materials, and connect families to resources.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or 2 years related work experience in lieu of degree. Knowledge about the education system and IDEA. Must be able to travel with occasional overnights and long-distance travel. Must have transportation and a valid driver's license. Parent of child who has special needs preferred.
