Family/School Liaison (Special Education)

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

Summary: The Family/School Liaison support families by providing pertinent information to guide and educate families in assessing choices and making decisions regarding their child with special education needs. Family/School Liaisons participate in documenting and evaluating the quantity and quality of programming delivered and represent Parents Reaching Out (PRO) in a professional manner.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Responsibilities: The Family/School Liaison interacts with parents and school personnel to support families via phone, email and in person with a high degree of integrity, ethics, knowledge and sensitivity. Liaisons provide trainings and workshops to families and professionals, support the development and updating of materials, and connect families to resources. Each Liaison is responsible in supporting the outreach, advocacy and volunteer efforts of PRO and maintaining accurate and confidential records.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Knowledge of the education system and IDEA. Excellent organizational abilities, telephone, email and communication skills. Ability to work both independently and as a team member. Computer knowledge regarding Microsoft office and data entry. MUST be able to travel. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Social Work/Human Services, Education, Program Management, etc.) or 2 years related work experience in lieu of degree.Parent of a child who has special needs preferred
