Exhibits Director

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

Explora seeks an Exhibits Director to lead, develop, and manage a team that includes 5 full-time staff. The Exhibits Director will oversee every aspect of the exhibit development process, including conceptual work, prototyping, fabrication, maintenance, and evaluation. The Director will develop and nurture relationships with other entities and will manage both small- and large-scale projects with local and national partners.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Responsibilities include long-term planning and goal-setting, tracking and managing project budgets, establishing timelines and priorities for developers, negotiating contracts, drafting exhibition plans, and ensuring that exhibits and environments reflect Explora’s written exhibits criteria.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Minimum qualifications include a BA/BS degree; a strong design sense with fabrication experience in wood, plex, and metal; some electronic and mechanical skills; strong problem solving skills; experience with both personnel and project management; excellent writing and organizational skills; flexibility, imagination, and a passion for lifelong learning.
