ESL Instructor grade 9-12

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

Implementing ESL Curriculum and other activities
English instruction placement.
Use of recognized best-practice methods.
Adapting curriculum with student’s ability.
Work well with others student’s providers
Reporting to Education Coordinator
Providing a positive learning environment
Supervising & coordinating teacher assistants & volunteers.
Completing student’s records & progress.
Responsible for instructional materials & supplies
Ensuring students safety

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Demonstrating the ability to work with young ELLs who may have behavioral/emotional problems as a result of post-traumatic/other stress.
Providing feedback on students’ progress to the students/parents & program coordinators.
Attending scheduled staff meetings & other professional development opportunities.
Maintaining & respecting confidentiality of students & personnel.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Supervisory & organizational ability.
Cross cultural sensitivity.
Knowledge of language other than English a plus.
Broad knowledge of ESL
Fluent in English.
Skills in problem solving & mediating conflict.
Self-starter & team-builder.
Commitment to the mission of LFS
BA from 4-yr college/university & 2 or more years experience
working with ELLs/equivalent .
ESL Certification is preferred.
Compensation: $25/hr. NO BENEFITS.
Teaching hours 3-5 pm at Highland HS + prep time.
