Main Areas of Responsibility:
The person in this position is responsible for teaching recently arrived adult refugee students in Lutheran Family Service’s English as a second language (ESL) program. The teacher uses interactive and engaging techniques to help students develop language and life skills The teacher is also responsible for creating a positive learning environment, motivating and encouraging students, as well as tracking students’ progress and reporting attendance on a daily basis.
Additional Areas of Responsibility:
1. Delivering instruction by creating and/or implementing lesson plans or other educational activities
2. Teaching students individually and in groups using recognized best-practice methods.
3. Adapting curriculum materials to individualize instruction for students of various levels.
4. Work collaboratively with LFS Employment staff as well as other contractors
5. Reporting to Education Coordinator and maintaining, completing, and submitting accurate records on each student’s attendance daily
