Engagement and Outreach Assistant

Type of Job: 
Part-Time
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

Support Explora’s work to contribute to the development of an alternative assessment model in partnership with Learning Alliance New Mexico, with particular focus on youth outreach and engagement. Plan and facilitate youth organizer meetings at Explora and connect teens with Explora’s exhibits and programs. Assist with developing and testing alternative assessment models in informal science education environments with particular focus on high school aged students.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Assist with data collection
• Assist with reporting, including writing report narratives
• Assist with research related to program projects and evaluation
• Travel locally to meetings, trainings, or job-related errands
• Provide excellent customer service both internally and externally

Other Information/Requirements: 

A Bachelor’s degree in related field and work experience performing similar duties; an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted, as long as it directly relates to essential duties and responsibilities
• Strong customer service skills; comfort with approaching visitors and program participants with diverse backgrounds and experiences
• Strong computer skills including proficiency with the Microsoft Suite
