Early Intervention Specialist

Main Areas of Responsibility: 

Provides developmentally based early intervention, service coordination, and case management support to women and families during pregnancy and through the third year or fifth year of a child’s life. The EIS functions as part of a multidisciplinary and/or interdisciplinary team and participates in standardized evaluations and/or ongoing assessment of children’s developmental, social and emotional, and family functioning in collaboration with other team disciplines.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

The EIS participates in child and family medical visits and supports access to medical care and other needed services. The EIS provides linkages to other critical community resources and is knowledgeable about those available in the community served.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Bachelor’s degree and one year experience working with children/families in a related activity.
Early Intervention Services requirement: Certified, or eligibility to become certified, as a Developmental Specialist II or III by the Part C Family Infant Toddler (FIT) Program in the state of New Mexico within 6 months of date of hire.
Prevention Services requirement: Endorsement from the New Mexico Associate of Infant Mental Health within 3 years of date of hire.
