Early Childhood Educator

Main Areas of Responsibility: 

This position will be responsible for developing and facilitating inquiry-based experiences for learners of all ages, particularly children in early childhood and early childhood providers and teachers. Educators are skillful at creating interactions that are engaging, effective, and memorable for visitors and program participants, both at Explora and during outreach around the state. Fluent in Spanish preferred and experience teaching children, especially in informal settings.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Minimum Qualifications:
Experience working with children, especially in a museum or informal setting.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and planning skills.
Basic computer skills required.
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in elementary education, child development, family studies, science, or
related field.

Other Information/Requirements:

You are asked to teach a class at Explora about the properties of water to a class of 15 preschool students OR, you are asked to teach an ecology-based class for 2nd-3rd graders.
As the educator, what kind of things would you be doing, what would the students be doing? In general, what would your learning outcomes be? How would you describe the classroom during the lesson? How will you encourage learning and how will you know learning is occurring?
