Director of Public Programs and Communications

Main Areas of Responsibility: 

To provide leadership in developing, implementing, and promoting programs in order to help connect the scholarship/research of SAR with the general public. This position is full-time, exempt. Please see www.sarweb.org for full description.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Plan public programs / activities; schedule of programs; recording / distribution of presentations; data management; oversee volunteers / campus tours. Expand press coverage / marketing efforts; design communication strategies / messaging; supervise monthly E-news and SAR NOW publication; manage print media production; supervise staff and contractors on web content /design.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Bachelor’s degree plus 3 to 5 years’ experience, preferably in nonprofit; advanced degree in communications, humanities, or social science a plus. Ability to implement successful programs, manage public relations and communications strategies for nonprofit or other organizations. Must be able to work some evenings and weekends.
