Main Areas of Responsibility:
The Director of Lifesaving provides leadership and strategic oversight for the Animal Care (AC), Foster Care (FC), and Behavior departments to ensure programmatic goals are met, provide staff development, and alignment with Animal Humane’s mission. This role is responsible for driving performance, consistency, and innovation across lifesaving programs while fostering a culture of compassion, accountability, and teamwork.
Additional Areas of Responsibility:
Working in collaboration with departmental managers, the Director of Lifesaving will develop and implement policies, procedures, and capacity guidelines that promote efficient, humane sheltering practices, and positive animal outcomes. The Director must lead with empathy and professionalism in emotionally charged situations, while demonstrating flexibility, problem-solving, data driven decision making, and strong communication skills.
