Main Areas of Responsibility: 

Directs all fundraising initiatives for the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History, a nonprofit organization. The Director of Development is directly responsible for major gifts, planned giving, grant writing and sponsorship development, corporate fundraising, and oversees the membership program, annual appeal and implementation of a major annual fund raising event.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Creates the Museum’s development plan and program and is responsible for its successful implementation. Position identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards donors and potential donors to foster growth in major gifts and planned giving; creates grant proposals; solicits corporate sponsorships; oversees the annual appeal; oversees the membership program; and seeks in-kind support. Position is also responsible for the Einstein Society Gala, an upper level membership and cultivation event held each spring.

Other Information/Requirements: 

At least 4 years of fundraising experience; excellent writing and speaking skills; strong interpersonal skills; and a high level of personal energy. Bachelor’s degree required. Should be very comfortable with sponsorship calls to individuals, small businesses and major corporations involved in nuclear energy, medicine and other technical fields. Should be skilled at gift cultivation, have an understanding of planned giving programs. Must be exceptionally organized, and comfortable working with multiple projects.
