Director of Development

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

Albuquerque Rescue Mission is a Christian ministry to the poor and homeless men and women of Albuquerque. The Director of Development is responsible for leading the Albuquerque Rescue Mission’s Development Department in meeting ambitious fundraising goals. We are looking for an individual who is a highly productive team player who will build strong and mutually beneficial relationships between the staff, Board, donors, volunteers and external audiences.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

• Manages and supervises development staff and departmental budget
• Successfully develops and manages fundraising strategies and tactics to meet organizational goals
• Oversees fundraising campaigns (including annual and capital), prospect identification, donor development, donor stewardship, in collaboration with communications staff

Other Information/Requirements: 

• Three to five year’s professional fundraising experience
• Adherence to highest ethical practices in fundraising & money management
• Demonstrated experience in implementing a successful large-scale campaign and in direct asks resulting in major gifts and multi-year pledges
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work as a leader and as part of a team
• Knowledge of community resources and contacts
• Strategic thinker
