Development Officer–Equine Protection Program

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The Equine Protection Development Officer (EPDO) will develop and implement a plan to secure funding for the Equine Protection Program and the Equine Protection Fund (www.EquineProtectionFund.org), including its endowment. Funding sources will include major gifts, planned gifts, foundation grants.

The EPDO will work with APNM’s existing fundraising team (Exec Dir, Dep Dir and Dev Assoc).

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Required: Work with diverse constituency, excellent written/oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal, persuasive skills, excellent time management, highly detail-oriented, thorough, self-motivated, highly computer, Internet, email literate, works well under pressure, manages priorities, excellent follow-up, responsiveness to deadlines, travel in NM, valid drivers license, some evening/weekend work. Preferred: Media experience, familiarity with NM, animal protection, equine issues.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Undergraduate degree required.
Minimum 3 years successful development experience, incl. prospect ID, research, preparation, solicitation of major gifts/foundation grants, building endowments, planned giving, special events. Successful experience w/creating/implementing short-term & long-term development plans, grant reporting/follow-up, researching, writing, securing, reporting on federal grants.
