Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The successful candidate will help forge new relationships to build the organization’s visibility, impact, and financial resources. S/he will design and implement a comprehensive plan for developing key external alliances by cultivating individual, corporate and philanthropic support.
The Development Director serves as a key leadership team member and an active collaborator in making strategic decisions for the organization.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Oversee the timely submission of grant proposals. Ensure timely reporting and follow-ups with funders.
Plan foundation, government, corporate, individual, and special event fundraising, in conjunction with staff and board personnel including with the Events Chair and Committee manage annual auction fundraisers.
Cultivate new individual, business and corporate sponsorships.
Develop, manage, and oversee direct mail fundraising appeals.
Oversee The Symphony’s CRM database maintenance.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Minimum three years proven success in development for a nonprofit. Experience leading fundraising campaigns and a background in fundraising from multiple donor channels. Experience in the performing arts a must.
Knowledge of, and experience with CRM (e.g. Raiser’s Edge, Tessitura, etc.) and experience revising/editing web page content with the support of the organization’s web design consultant.
Skilled in creating powerful, compelling written and oral communications.
A Bachelor’s degree or higher.
