Detention Advocacy Specialist

Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The Rape Crisis Center of Central New Mexico is hiring a Detention Advocacy Specialist (.75 FTE) who will, in response to the Prison Rape Elimination Act, focus on increasing access to services for incarcerated victims of sexual violence through formal agreements, provision of sexual assault crisis services, and system-wide training.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

• Become familiar w/the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA)
• Collaborate with detention facilities to develop Sexual Assault Response Teams.
• Provide sexual assault services to incarcerated victims
• Ensure incarcerated victims have access to confidential communication with RCCCNM
• Provide training.
• Ensure grant reports are timely and accurate

Other Information/Requirements: 

• MA/MS in Public Health, Addiction Counseling, Criminology or related field; BA/BS in related field w/4 years of relevant experience.
• Two years of program management/implementation experience
• Experience w/correctional populations, detention facilities or law enforcement.
• Excellent written/verbal skills.
• Criminal Records Background clearance.
• Access to own vehicle.
