Contractor - AmeriCorps planning grant position

Main Areas of Responsibility: 

Under the direction of the United Way Mission: Graduate Executive Director and other United Way staff, this project will fund an AmeriCorps Contractor (referred to as ‘contractor’ henceforth) to coordinate with Community School activities. The Contractor is responsible for assessing the need and capacity at the designated Community Schools.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

• The full timeline for the grant period is September 2019 - April 2020.
• The contractor will be required to travel to sites and visit various community schools, community leaders, and coordinate listening sessions and meetings to discuss opportunities.
• The contractor will be required to meet monthly with the Mission: Graduate Executive Director to update on objectives and deliverables. In addition, there are meetings and training with AmeriCorps directly that will require attendance.

Other Information/Requirements: 

The ability to clearly communicate and effectively listen to children, parents/guardians, members, school administration and UW staff. At least two years of experience in community organizing or partnership building. Prior experience conducting needs assessment, working in a public-school setting and leading volunteers, Bilingual and Bi-literate in English and Spanish preferred. Must have a valid NM license and be able to pass a State and APS background and check.
