Bilingual Paralegal / Legal Assistant

Full-Time
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

Responsible for assisting with initial client screenings to obtain relevant case information, maintain screening and wait lists. Provide referrals to community resources. Investigate, compile and digest facts of the case. Locate, obtain, and preserve client documentation. Review and organize client documentation. Translation of documents (English-Spanish, Spanish-English). Arrange for interpretation and/or translation, if needed. Analyze and summarize all data.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Develop, maintain, and/or administer tickler system, case management system, and grant reporting system. Review file on a regular basis, consult with attorney and prepare regular status reports to client. Respond appropriately to the cultural differences present among the Agency’s service population. Incorporate and demonstrate the mission, vision, work, core value, and activities of Catholic Charities in a positive manner with all staff, clients, and the general public at all times.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Qualifications:
Paralegal Degree OR
Associate’s Degree or paralegal certificate with some relevant work experience required OR
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (e.g., social work, linguistics) if coupled with work experience in legal services
Extensive demonstrated work experience in a relevant field without formal certification may be considered
Basic computer competency in MS Office and Windows
Bilingual in Spanish/English required
