Behavioral Health Counselor

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The Integrated Behavioral Health Counselor (IBHC) functions as a core member of a collaborative care team that may involve the patient’s primary care provider, a consulting psychiatrist, case managers, nurses, and other mental health providers as necessary and appropriate. The IBHC is responsible for ensuring programmatic fidelity and the maximization of internal and community resources in the delivery of behavioral health services.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Support and closely coordinate mental health care with the patient’s primary care provider, other SCC staff and treating mental health providers.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Desired : Experience working with underserved, transient populations. Experience working with patients who have co-occurring mental health, substance use, and physical health problems. Experience with evidence-based counseling techniques (e.g. CBT or PST). Working knowledge of psychopharmacology. Experience working with safety net providers within the community and knowledge of community resources.
