Associate Trainer

Part-Time
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

We are looking for candidates to assist our program in training service dogs for military veterans afflicted with PTSD and/or traumatic brain injury. This is a part time position, 25-30 hours a week, with a minimum six-month probationary period. A wage increase follows successful completion of probation. Potential for future promotion into Trainer and Sr. Trainer positions.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Associate trainers conduct and observe weekly one-on-one and group training sessions, attend group classes, training clinics, workshops, staff meetings, and other programmatic meetings and training events. Associate trainers also track Veteran/Service Dog Team progress, file reports and fulfill other Programs Department duties as needed.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Minimum requirements:
-No certification required
-Minimal dog training experience required
-A background check and mental health screening (upon offer of employment)

Abilities required:
Physically able to handle large, untrained dogs
Be mobile in training settings for hours at a time
Must have reliable transportation

Desirable Characteristics:
Experience with military culture, post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, other disabilities or any other canine experience.
