Art and Leadership Program Coordinator

Main Areas of Responsibility: 

This seasonal job is perfect for educators: 10 hrs/wk Jan-April, 40hrs/wk May-August. Position develops, implements and manages the museum’s Art and Leadership Program, an award-winning summer camp for middle-schoolers. Coordinate schedules; ensure accessibility of programs for diverse audiences; provide staff additional support to develop curricula; communicate with student’s parents and evaluate program.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Scouts for program artists
Schedules program sites and overnights/contracts and reservations.
Corresponds with high school-aged and college-aged program interns.
Prepares program exhibition and reception.
Keeps in communication with museum staff about program.
Reviews and edits Art and Leadership grants, updates all forms and letters, and maintains A&L training
manual.
Completes or supervises completion of all program paperwork.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Former or current middle-school art teaching experience
Excellent ability to mentor student teachers + communicate with parents
High emotional intelligence
Ability to coordinate complex schedules
Understanding of art-based curricula
Budget tracking, including expenditures, payroll, vendors, contracts and purchase orders
Ability to complete special projects or additional duties as assigned
Participate in evening and weekend activities as appropriate and requested
