Main Areas of Responsibility:
This one-year, full-time position - made possible through a generous grant from the ASPCA® - is responsible for developing and implementing APNM’s statewide animal shelter assistance program. The ultimate goal is to increase New Mexican animal shelters’ capacity to humanely care for companion animals, increase adoptions and spay-neuters, reduce euthanasia rates and lead to more meaningful public and private support of shelters.
Additional Areas of Responsibility:
Conduct needs assessment via updated shelter survey, prioritize data for optimal assistance across shelters and communities for the benefit of the most animals (focusing on 2-3 shelters for in-depth assistance, and providing lower-level assistance for others). Establish a dedicated “clearinghouse” that will provide shelters assistance with resources, training, fundraising and capacity-enhancement.
