Accounting Associate

Job Description
Type of Job: 
Full-Time
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The accounting associate will fulfill the following main duties:
• Process and record daily financial transactions within the established general ledger, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and the Foundation’s policies
• Ensure transaction records are properly maintained
• Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual close process
• Assist with preparation and monitoring of annual operating budget
• Using system generated templates, draft correspondence to donors

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

The right candidate will also be interested in the mission and professional values of the Foundation and nonprofit work as there will be time spent working on non-accounting duties, including assisting with Foundation event set-up and clean-up. Experience in nonprofit sector a plus. Additionally, knowledge or experience in data mining and data analysis is a plus.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Qualifications
Associate degree or equivalent experience in accounting, finance or related field
3-5 years' relevant work experience (recent grads can substitute academic coursework for experience)
Proficiency in MS Office products, especially in Microsoft Excel

Skills Required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize competing demands
Attention to detail
Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Must have outstanding customer service
