Type of Job: 
Full-Time
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

• Teach the basic skills (reading, writing, and math) and GED preparations, modifying the curriculum and materials as required, to meet individual and program needs.
• To coordinate, develop or adapt a vocational-oriented curriculum in cooperation with the staff team.
• Build youth leadership skills through training, program decision making and involvement in community issues.
• Provide documentation of progress and work with case manager to provide case management data collection.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

• Develop learning contracts/individualized lesson plans for each participant, and to assess academic progress by reviewing and updating plans regularly.
• Implement attendance policies and procedures consistently.
• Work as a member of the total staff team integrating basic skills with construction site activities.
• Provide timely and accurate documentation monthly and as needed.

Other Information/Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a teaching certificate.
• Two (2) years’ experience teaching basic skills and GED preparation to adults or young adults.
• Experience in curriculum planning and development.
• Minimum of 3 years working with youth or low-income population.
