Academic Coordinator

Type of Job: 
Full-Time
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

• The Coordinator works with NMT staff and departments to ensure college readiness and success of low-income, first-generation students
• Develops, plans, and delivers academic advising and counseling services to low-income and first-generation students and their families
• Assists the Director as a liaison between UBMS and other organizations in recruitment of new students
• Develops, delivers, and evaluates academic programs, Saturday Sessions, and college visit trips

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

• This position requires the ability to coordinate group activities, train and supervise part-time staff, and work with secondary and postsecondary staff and parents/caregivers.
• Understanding of school district and higher education policies, including rigorous secondary curriculum and graduation requirements, and postsecondary admissions, financial aid, and career development required

Other Information/Requirements: 

• Bachelors degree in STEM or related field required
• One year of experience with disadvantaged students and families
• One year of administrative experience required
• Academic year portion is based in Albuquerque, six-week summer program is in Socorro, NM at New Mexico Tech
• Strong communications skills
• Must have valid driver's license
• Valid NM Teaching/Counseling License preferred
• Must pass background check
