Grantmaking Program Area Descriptions:

Aging:  Assist older adults in achieving maximum independence and quality of life by supporting in-home services, community engagement, and end of life / palliative care.

Alcoholism & Substance Abuse:  Assist  youth and adults with alcohol and substance abuse challenges in achieving and maintaining stability by supporting prevention (emphasis on youth), treatment, and supportive / after-care services.

Amateur Sports:  Expand opportunities for participation in quality youth sports programs that foster increased sportsmanship, confidence, discipline and leadership. Expand opportunities for national and international amateur sports competition.

Disabilities:  Assist individuals with physical and developmental disabilities and their families in achieving maximum independence and quality of life by funding supportive services for the developmentally disabled and providing equipment and resources for those who are physically disabled.

Early Childhood Education:  Improve the quality of early childhood education systems to ensure school readiness by supporting teacher / leadership quality, facility quality, and parental involvement.

K-12 Education Reform:  Improve the quality of the K-12 educational system to ensure increased student achievement by supporting reform / school choice, parental engagement, and teacher / leadership quality.

Ethics & Integrity:  Improve the quality of ethics curriculum to foster principle-centered leadership by supporting business ethics in higher education and ethics in K-12 education.

Homeless and Disadvantaged:  Assist homeless individuals and families in achieving and maintaining self-sufficiency by supporting emergency services and transitional housing with supportive services.

Youth Development:  Provide opportunities for youth to develop character and gain the necessary life skills to become successful adults by supporting academic and supplemental services, civic literacy and community engagement, financial literacy and entrepreneurship, along with career and technical education.

Type of Funding/ Funding Restrictions: The Daniels Fund makes grants to nonprofit organizations and government entities (including tribal governments).  Funds are awarded for capital projects; operating support; and project support.  The Daniels Fund generally will not support the following: medical or scientific research; arts, cultural, and museum programs (including those teaching and serving youth); environmental stewardship programs; historic preservation projects; candidates for political office; endowments; sponsorships, tables, or tickets for special events or fundraising events; and debt elimination.
