How We Count Who We Are and How We Serve Everyone: Supporting and Using the American Community Survey Race and Ethnicity Data
A Partner Presentation by The Coalition on Human Needs
Webinar Overview: Race and ethnicity data is central to our democracy and central to how we make sure we serve all communities. We know that it is especially crucial now for human needs advocates to know where to find accurate data, what it means, and how to use it.
The Census Bureau collects racial and ethnic data in accordance with guidelines provided by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget based on self-identification. This webinar will help you understand the current standards for collecting and reporting data on race and ethnicity in the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey, how to find and use the data, and the many ways that it is important for human needs. At a time when the fight for equity is most challenging, it is especially important to understand, preserve, and use race and ethnicity data accurately.
