New Mexico Battle of the Books - Apr 30

April 30, 2016
Number of Volunteers Needed:
66
Description of the Volunteer Opportunity:

This is the premier literacy competition in our state, in which teams of 4th-6th and 6th-8th graders go head to head to determine who will emerge victorious in this contest of reading skills and strategies.

Battle of the Books is a national literacy organization of which New Mexico is a member. Every year elementary and middle schoolers read from a list of 20 outstanding books, then get together in the spring to have a quiz style competition which may draw as many as 400 kids from across the state.

It takes many volunteers for a successful event. We are looking for a minimum of 66 adult volunteers to be question readers, scorekeepers and timers. Volunteers do not need to have read the books, they just need to be willing to familiarize themselves with the battle rules and spend a morning being blown away by BoB's amazing reader-leaders from across New Mexico.
