Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

Volunteer at the Center for Refugee Settlement and Support with Catholic Charities. Volunteers will spend two hours a week with a child working on homework, practicing English, exploring their communities, and having fun!

Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project: 

Children in this program are refugees from all over the world, ages 9-17, who are struggling to learn a new language, a new culture, and new rules/expectations.They don't have resources such as extended family or community to guide them through this transition; they need positives role models and all the support they can get.

Nonprofit Will Provide: 

Volunteers will receive training through the mentoring program.

Additional Requirements: 

Volunteers must:
- be able to give 2 hours a week for 1 year
- be 21 or older
- have a valid New Mexico drivers license
- have current auto insurance
- pass a background check
- provide three references
