Mission Statement:

The Albuquerque Philharmonic Orchestra is a community orchestra in which experienced musicians may study and perform the classical symphonic repertoire, provide opportunities for the community and youth to enjoy and become educated about classical music, and to provide free concerts to the community

Primary Programs:

The Albuquerque Philharmonic Orchestra consists of approximately 65 amateur, unpaid musicians who provide 11-12 concerts free of charge in various venues throughout the community. The orchestra is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, which raises operating funds through member dues, donations, bake sales at concerts, and occasional grants. A grant we received from the New Mexico Attorney General several years ago has enabled us to provide concerts free of charge at exceptional venues such as the National Hispanic Cultural Center, the South Broadway Cultural Center, Keller Hall at UNM, and other wonderful concert halls. This grant has enabled us to expand our outreach in the community and to provide additional classical music exposure to Albuquerque area residents. We are also very fortunate to have received a grant from the Community Foundation. For 28 years, the Community Foundation has built successful partnerships with donors, non profits and community leaders to enhance the quality of life for people in the greater Albuquerque area. Highlights of the current season include Dvorak Symphony No. 8, Copland Suite from Appalachian Spring, Brahms Piano Concerto No. 1, Mahler Ruckert Lieder, Shostakovich Symphony No. 5, Bartok Rumanian Fold Dances, Sibelius Violin Concerto, and Haydn Symphony No. 99. In addition, the orchestra will present its fourth annual Chamber Orchestra Festival featuring a variety of chamber orchestra works.
