Mission Statement:

The mission of the Santa Fe Animal Shelter is to reduce animal suffering by curbing overpopulation, teaching compassion, and supporting healthy relationships between people and animals.

Primary Programs:

- Animal Sheltering: We provide shelter, food, medical care, behavior training and more to over 5,000 homeless animals per year.

- Adoptions: Adoption counselors work with potential adopters to find their perfect match.

- Behavior & Training: Provides behavior help, training classes, and counseling to recent adopters and pet guardians in the community

- Public Animal Hospital: Provides high quality routine, urgent, and emergent veterinary care to owned companion animals in the community.

- Spay/Neuter: Provides low-cost spay/neuter surgeries to owned pets in the community

- New Hope: Offers shelter pets a second chance through temporary foster homes & hospice care

Other Programs:

- Barn Cat Program: Places undersocialized cats in safe outdoor settings

- Gatos de Santa Fe: Provides trap-neuter-release services for free-living community cats

- Humane Education: Teaches our youth about animal welfare

- Pet Outreach: Volunteers and their pets visit hospitals, schools, and adult living facilities
