Home Grown New Mexico
Home Grown New Mexico educates and promotes the awareness of nutritious, home grown food. We connect individuals, businesses and organizations to exchange ideas and expertise. The vision is to enable people to take responsibility for growing, raising, cooking and storing healthy food.
Home Grown New Mexico holds a monthly potluck and a monthly junto to connect people to local food, gardening, cooking, beekeeping, chickens and community homesteading organizations. There are two speakers at each event that give an introduction to their organization or business, but most of the time is scheduled for networking.
Community work is with the 10 community gardens in Santa Fe and other related non-profits and organizations.
Education events are scheduled from March through November and are by suggested donation only. Volunteer days and classes will be held monthly at the Community Farm.
Fundraising events include a Kitchen Garden & Coop Tour to show edible gardens, backyard chickens and other tips to be more sustainable and a Harvest Dinner.
Resources include an online community calendar of all community homesteading events in Northern New Mexico and listings of the Non-profits, businesses, organizations and Community Gardens.
Home Grown New Mexico hopes to expand the potlucks, education events and Kitchen Garden & Coop Tour to more places in New Mexico.
