Amy Biehl High School Foundation
ABHS was founded in the spirit of Amy Biehl, a young person dedicated to social justice. Using a thematic approach across subject areas, we teach students to apply and demonstrate skills and knowledge to analyze and address community needs.
Amy Biehl High School transforms young people from all walks of life into civic-minded college students while they are still in high school. Located in the heart of downtown Albuquerque in a one hundred year old historic building, ABHS is redefining the value of a high school diploma by providing a challenging curriculum and cultivating close relationships with students and families. In addition, close coordination with UNN, CNM and a host of community partners enables habits needed to successfully complete two relevant college classes and service initiatives. Through service, students are challenged to play meaningful roles in their communities while developing leadership skills. We are a school of choice that assists a diverse student body to acquire intellectual, social, and ethical habits to prepare for post-secondary education and life. Our students are primed for success, wherever that may lead them, and their presence benefits our communities in Albuquerque and beyond. 295 students in grades 9-12 22 zip codes in New Mexico represented 21% special education needs 44% first-generation college bound 50% of entering freshmen are two or more grade levels behind in reading and/or math
